Teenage boy charged in Perth suburb drive-by shooting
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with eight offences following an alleged drive-by shooting in Gosnells, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The incident occurred around 12:30 am on Saturday, when the teenager allegedly used a semi-automatic rifle to fire at an occupied residence.
Seven people were inside the home at the time of the shooting. One man sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The gunfire caused damage to the building's external brickwork, roof guttering, and a glass window. While the suspect was arrested in a car park late Sunday, police reported that the rifle used in the attack has not yet been recovered.
The teenager faces charges including unlawful use of a firearm, endangering life, and driving without authority. He appeared in the Perth Children's Court on Monday and did not apply for bail. Authorities noted that the boy is reportedly already out on bail regarding separate charges in his home state of Victoria. Police have characterized the event as an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the community.
