Teenager Alexandra Montero found dead in Arenoso canal

The body of 16-year-old Alexandra Montero, known as ‘Paloma’, was discovered in the Agripo canal in the Cuba community of the El Aguacate municipal district, Arenoso. The Civil Defense confirmed the identity of the teenager, who had been reported missing after leaving her home with three friends.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of her death. The three minors who were reportedly with Montero before her disappearance are being interviewed by investigators. The National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) will conduct studies to establish the official cause of death.

Local residents noted that the body was found near an area identified by the community as a suspected site for illicit substance sales. However, officials have stated there is currently no confirmed link between that location and the death, and they have urged the public to wait for the results of the ongoing investigation by the Public Ministry and the National Police.
