Acton teen charged with murdering mother and brother in Massachusetts
Arjun Aravind, a 17-year-old resident of Acton, Massachusetts, has been charged with the murder of his mother, Sudha Venkatesan, 45, and his 14-year-old brother, Siddharth Aravind. The victims were discovered on Tuesday evening at the family's Martha Lane home after a tutor and the children's father were unable to make contact with them.
Police found the victims with obvious trauma; Siddharth was located on the first floor and Sudha in the finished basement. Aravind allegedly fled the scene in his mother's 2014 green Honda Accord. Following an overnight search, he was apprehended early Wednesday in Wayland, Massachusetts, after police responded to an unrelated alarm in a parking lot.
Investigators from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office stated that Aravind had recently exhibited concerning behavior, including using the internet and ChatGPT to search for theoretical ideas, characters, and Gothic-style fantasy stories involving the killing of his family. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder, assault and battery, theft of a motor vehicle, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
