Teenager dies from electrocution at Çerkezköy construction site
A 15-year-old boy, Eren Gündoğdu, died after being electrocuted while laying cables at a construction site in the Çerkezköy district of Tekirdağ. Gündoğdu, who was reportedly working as an intern at the construction firm, was rushed to Çerkezköy State Hospital but could not be saved by medical staff. His body has been sent to the Tekirdağ Forensic Medicine Institute for further examination.
Following the incident, gendarmerie teams launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident and whether negligence occurred regarding occupational health and safety measures. The investigation will also examine the legality of the minor's presence at the site and the conditions of his work.
Nurten Yontar of the Republican People's Party (CHP) criticized the incident, questioning why a child was performing dangerous electrical work instead of being in school. She called for a full investigation into the company and public authorities, arguing that vocational training programs should not be used as a cover for exploiting child labor in hazardous environments.
