Teenager found guilty of murdering 14-year-old Christopher McBurnie
A teenager has been found guilty of murdering 14-year-old Christopher McBurnie following a stabbing in Ramsey on the Isle of Man. The incident occurred on May 29, 2025, after the two boys, who did not know each other personally, arranged a confrontation via Snapchat.
During the trial, it was revealed that the defendant had exchanged insults and death threats with McBurnie on social media prior to the encounter. On the day of the attack, McBurnie traveled from Castletown to the defendant's home with a group of friends. The prosecution described the stabbing as a ‘deliberate and frenzied attack’ after the defendant allegedly lured the victim to the address. While the defense argued the defendant acted in self-defense and cited his low cognitive ability, the jury returned a guilty verdict following a four-week trial.
Christopher’s mother, Rebecca Parker, described the verdict as ‘bittersweet,’ noting that while the result was what the family believed was right, it cannot bring her son back. She also expressed distress over the portrayal of her son during the trial and the threatening messages her family has received.
