Teenager killed in Bandung after confronting father over gambling

A 15-year-old boy, identified as RR, died in Cicalengka, Bandung, following a physical altercation with his 37-year-old father, DR. The incident occurred after the teenager intervened in an argument between his parents.

According to Bandung Police Commissioner Tri Suhartanto, the dispute began when the father requested 500,000 rupiah from his wife—funds originally intended for their child's school fees—to use for online gambling. When the teenager attempted to defend his mother during the argument, the father allegedly attacked him by choking, hitting, and kicking him.

A post-mortem examination revealed that the victim died from bleeding in the back of the head caused by blunt force trauma. Police have arrested DR, who faces charges under child protection laws and the Indonesian Penal Code. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
