Teenager wounded by accidental rifle discharge in Choix

A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized after being wounded by a gunshot in the Choix municipality of Sinaloa. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Las Mesas and Las Juntas community.

According to authorities, the teenager was searching for cattle when he entered a small makeshift cabin for shelter. While lying down on a bed, he reportedly applied pressure to a mattress, causing a black rifle hidden underneath to discharge accidentally. The projectile struck his right arm.

After receiving initial treatment in Choix, the minor was transferred via Red Cross ambulance to the General Hospital of Los Mochis. He is reported to be in stable condition, though specialists estimate his recovery may take more than 20 days. The State Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation into the incident.
