Teens Call AI 'Creepy' and 'Disgusting' as Skepticism Grows

A recent YPulse survey of U.S. teenagers finds that 37% of those aged 13 to 17 feel embarrassed when they see AI‑generated content, and more than half express concern about misinformation and deepfakes. While many adolescents continue to use chatbots for schoolwork and companionship, enthusiasm is mixed. A Pew Research Center study adds that over a quarter of teens believe AI will have a negative impact on society within the next two decades, citing worries about job loss, declining critical thinking and environmental effects. Educators such as Melanie Green of the University at Buffalo note that today’s youth are wary of AI because they perceive it as a technology that will burden their generation, and some students even use the phrase “this is AI” to dismiss content as nonsense.
