Teófilo Gutiérrez excluded from Junior squad following controversy

Forward Teófilo Gutiérrez has been left out of Junior de Barranquilla's squad for their match against Águilas Doradas. The decision follows controversial remarks made by the player regarding team rotation and player continuity.

Gutiérrez had previously stated in an interview that teams should not change their lineup after securing consecutive victories, a comment widely interpreted as a critique of head coach Sebastián Viera's tactical adjustments. Viera defended his decisions, citing player fatigue and injuries as the primary reasons for squad rotations.

Following his exclusion, Gutiérrez issued a statement on social media, claiming his comments were general reflections on football that were taken out of context. He expressed regret for the timing of the remarks and stated that he accepts the coach's decision with "humility and professionalism," reiterating his commitment to the club.
