Tegernsee lake festival runs into August; Bostalsee firework cancelled for safety
In the last week of July 2026 the Bavarian lake town of Tegernsee hosted a series of four events – a Seefest, a Waldfest and two traditional folk forest festivals – extending celebrations into early August. The Seefest featured a large fireworks display, live music from local bands, an alpine horn ensemble, and activities for children on the lake.
Meanwhile, at the Bostalsee in Saarland, organizers announced the cancellation of the planned fireworks for the 23rd edition of the lake's Seefest. The decision was made because strong winds, prolonged dry weather and the resulting heightened fire risk made a safe fireworks launch impossible. The rest of the evening programme, including performances by tribute bands and acoustic pop acts, continued as scheduled.
Both festivals illustrate how German lake events adapt their programming in response to weather‑related safety concerns while maintaining broader cultural celebrations.
