Italy implements digital emergency tools and public safety training

Various regional and national initiatives in Italy are focusing on public safety, emergency preparedness, and digital health services.

In the realm of disaster management, the TEGIS24 platform was presented at the REAS International Emergency Fair in Montichiari. The digital suite, used by over 200 municipalities, aims to modernize Civil Protection plans by making them accessible via smartphones and tablets. Additionally, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (GIRD) will be held in Naples, focusing on the role of communication in emergency management. In Campania, the city of Campagna is hosting seismic risk exercises and prevention demonstrations.

Public health and first aid training are also being prioritized. Events in Teramo and Cosenza are teaching citizens life-saving maneuvers, such as airway obstruction relief and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In the Veneto region, public meetings are being held to educate citizens on using the Electronic Health Record (Fascicolo Sanitario Elettronico) to manage medical documents online.

Local governance is also advancing safety measures, such as Misterbianco's approval of a new Civil Protection Plan to address risks like volcanic ash and extreme weather. In Samarate, community meetings will address citizens' rights regarding environmental information and patient healthcare access.
