Tegucigalpa authorities review dog regulations after fatal attack

Forensic experts in Tegucigalpa have determined that the death of Alex Alfonso Maldonado Bonilla was caused by an accidental dog bite. Preliminary autopsy results from the Ministerio Público ruled out injuries from sharp weapons, noting that the bone damage was consistent with the force of a bite and exacerbated by the victim's advanced age.

Maldonado Bonilla had reportedly received medical treatment for previous bites from the same animal between July and August.

Following the incident in the Hato de Enmedio neighborhood, the Alcaldía Municipal del Distrito Central (AMDC) is reviewing local regulations regarding potentially dangerous dog breeds. While no official ban on pitbulls has been announced, authorities are evaluating whether to implement new restrictions or increase enforcement of existing rules for owners of large dogs in public spaces.
