Tegucigalpa Chamber of Commerce calls for part-time employment law reform

Paola Díaz, executive director of the Tegucigalpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIT), has called for a reform of the Part-Time Employment Law. She noted that the current application of the law has failed to meet expectations regarding job creation.

Citing data from the Secretariat of Labor, Díaz pointed out a reduction in the number of contracts registered under this modality. To address this, the CCIT suggested increasing flexibility in working hours, which would allow individuals to combine multiple jobs within a single week, such as working at a call center during certain days and in a restaurant from Friday to Sunday.

The business organization urged authorities to analyze these legislative changes to facilitate more employment opportunities while ensuring that any modifications maintain dignified working conditions within the existing legal framework.
