Colombian Army seizes weapons, dismantles drug labs in operations
The Colombian Army carried out a series of security operations across the country. In Guaviare, troops from the Seventh Brigade located a clandestine camp of the Calarcá faction of the Jorge Suárez Briceño bloc and neutralised two illegal weapon depots, seizing rifles, grenades, ammunition and a land‑mine.
In Tumaco, the Hercules task force captured 18 young members of the residual Farc group, confiscating long‑guns, pistols and thousands of cartridges. The same force received the voluntary surrender of a former guerrilla known as “Alias Marcelo”, who turned himself in to the army in Ibagué.
Separately, army units together with the National Police dismantled an ELN‑run cocaine‑processing facility in Salazar de las Palmas, Norte de Santander, seizing 816 kg of cocaine, 120 kg of pasta base and related processing equipment, dealing a major blow to the group’s financing. These actions collectively weakened illegal armed groups’ logistical and financial capacities and reinforced state control in the affected regions.
