Tehran City Council head reports election uncertainty
Mehdi Chamran, the head of the Tehran City Council, stated that proposals regarding the timing of local elections have been submitted to Shoam, but no response has been received yet. Until a definitive answer is provided, the schedule for these elections remains uncertain.
Chamran also addressed urban management issues in Tehran, specifically the plan to organize the city's more than two million motorcyclists. He noted that while the plan is a legal necessity to curb violations and improve safety, its implementation requires significant planning and determination due to the high volume of riders.
Additionally, the City Council is seeking increased oversight regarding urban density grants. Chamran proposed the creation of a specific database to monitor excess density allocations and requested quarterly written reports to ensure financial and regulatory compliance, emphasizing that any increase in municipal fees must remain within legal frameworks.
