Tehran gas explosion injures one and damages residential buildings

A gas explosion occurred in a residential building in the Falah neighborhood of southern Tehran during the early hours of the morning. The incident took place in a 70-square-meter unit on the first floor of a five-story complex on Shahsavar Street.

The blast caused significant structural damage, destroying walls in the affected unit and two adjacent apartments, as well as damaging the elevator shaft. The shockwave also caused damage to a neighboring building, breaking windows and doors.

Firefighters arrived at the scene within three minutes and successfully contained the fire. While 12 residents were evacuated safely from the building, a 24-year-old man sustained burns and injuries in the unit. Preliminary investigations by fire officials suggest the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak from a gas appliance that ignited due to a spark.
