Tehran Mayor announces Zero Inflation Plan for essential goods
Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani has announced details of the ‘Zero Inflation Plan,’ a subsidy initiative designed to support the livelihoods of Tehran's 9.6 million residents. The program provides 12 essential food items, including rice, oil, meat, legumes, and pasta, at fixed prices lower than current market rates.
Household quotas for these goods are determined based on consumption patterns, caloric needs, and the number of family members. Residents can purchase these items through municipal fruit and vegetable markets, 18 Shahrvand large stores, or via the Shahrzad super-app for home delivery. To further support the initiative, Shahrvand Company has announced a reduction in its commercial profit margins across all items in its branches. Citizens may receive their quotas on a monthly basis or at most once every two months.
