Tehran Municipality Waste Management CEO denies dismissal of 350 workers

Mohammad Ali Alfatpour, CEO of the Tehran Municipality Waste Management Organization, has denied reports claiming that 350 workers from the waste management sector have been dismissed. Alfatpour stated that the claims are incorrect and emphasized that the process of converting the employment status of these workers is continuing in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

He explained that the organization is currently undergoing a reorganization of its workforce. In certain areas where personnel numbers exceed requirements, the organization is pursuing the redistribution of staff and the reassignment of organizational posts. Alfatpour stressed that these measures are intended for workforce management and should not be interpreted as layoffs.

Conversely, labor activists have raised concerns regarding the status of these workers. Reports from labor advocates suggest that approximately 350 operational workers, some with up to 18 years of service, have faced verbal suspensions or dismissals despite having completed administrative processes for employment status conversion. Activists claim these actions may be an attempt to avoid financial obligations related to these workers' permanent status transitions.
