Tehran Police recover kidnapped infant after 11-month trafficking ordeal

Tehran police have successfully recovered an infant who was kidnapped 11 months ago and returned the child to their biological parents. The investigation revealed a complex trafficking chain involving nine different families.

The case began when a family caregiver, who had been working for the parents, took the 8-day-old infant. While the initial suspect claimed she acted out of compassion due to the parents' domestic disputes, police investigations indicate the child was subsequently sold through multiple hands.

Authorities report that approximately 100 million tomans were exchanged during the various transfers of the child. Detectives tracked the infant to the city of Khomein, where the child was eventually located and safely reunited with the family. Nine suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and trafficking ring, and all are currently in police custody pending further judicial proceedings.
