Tehran-North Freeway holiday tolls to increase

Tolls for the Tehran-North Freeway will increase during holidays to cover higher operational costs. On regular days, the toll is 260,000 tomans, while a round trip costs 520,000 tomans. During holidays, the one-way fee rises to 360,000 tomans, making a round trip 720,000 tomans.

Milad Dousti, deputy of construction and development at the Construction and Development of Transport Infrastructures Company, stated that the increase is necessary due to the high costs of maintaining the smart freeway, which includes complex tunnels and fire control sensors. He noted that the Tehran-Chalus corridor is a vital tourism route requiring significant resources for safety and management.

Dousti also highlighted financial challenges facing freeway operators, noting that approximately 7,000 billion tomans in tolls remain uncollected from electronic users. He warned that if tolls are not adjusted to match maintenance and operational expenses, similar infrastructure issues faced by the Zanjan-Tabriz freeway could recur.
