Tehran prisoner spared from execution after victim's family grants forgiveness

A prisoner in Tehran has been spared from execution following the decision by the victim's mother to grant forgiveness. The case stemmed from a street altercation three years ago that resulted in the death of a man named Amir.

According to reports, the incident involved two brothers, Farhad and Farzin, and an individual named Saeed. The conflict reportedly began between Farhad and Amir, after which the group returned to the scene to retrieve a mobile phone and an Apple Watch. During the second confrontation, Amir sustained a fatal knife wound.

While the Tehran Criminal Court initially sentenced Saeed to death and the other defendants to imprisonment, the sentence was overturned after the victim's mother withdrew her demand for execution. The case was referred back to the court to address the public aspect of the crime, and Saeed was ultimately sentenced to four years in prison, accounting for time already served.
