Tehran Prosecutor's Office Threatens Legal Action Against Critics of Executions and Alleged Coup Plotters

The Tehran Prosecutor's Office announced that it will initiate criminal proceedings against individuals who publicly oppose recent executions of prisoners linked to the January 2026 nationwide protests and the subsequent conflict. The statement, issued through the judiciary‑affiliated Mizan News Agency, warned that critics showing any support for the executed prisoners would face decisive legal action without leniency.

In a separate warning, the prosecutor’s office said it would also prosecute anyone who publicly supports those described as "coup plotters" or "enemy agents" in connection with the alleged Dey 1404 coup attempt and the ongoing "Ramadan War" with Israel and the United States. Authorities said the measures aim to curb what they view as hostile propaganda and foreign‑linked networks.
