Tehran Province reports decline in city student numbers
Tehran Governor Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian announced that the number of students in Tehran city has decreased by 7,000, while student populations in the province's surrounding counties have increased by 17,000. He attributed this shift to economic conditions and the return of some foreign nationals.
Motamedian noted that the province's educational per capita spending has risen from 5.28 to 5.87 following the opening of 103 new schools, moving the province up nine ranks in national standings. Despite this progress, a deficit of 9,000 classrooms and 638 schools remains in the province.
To address these needs, the government is focusing on disadvantaged areas such as Shahriar, Baharestan, Qods, and Qarchak. Current initiatives include the construction of numerous 15-classroom schools across these districts to expand educational capacity.
