Tehran woman convicted of murdering husband with poison

A young woman has been found guilty by the Tehran Criminal Court for the murder of her husband. The investigation began in early 1403 following the suspicious death of a man who died after consuming pills provided by his wife.

Forensic examinations confirmed the cause of death was poisoning. Police investigations revealed that the woman had been involved in an emotional relationship with a man referred to as an ‘attar’ (herbalist/apothecary), with whom she had discussed marriage.

Authorities discovered that the accomplice helped the woman acquire poison by using a pretext involving a non-existent student who supposedly needed the substance for scientific research. The woman confessed to replacing her husband's medical capsules with poisoned ones to remove him from her life so she could marry her lover. The accomplice also confessed to his role in facilitating the acquisition of the toxins.
