Tehran woman sentenced to 15 years for acid attack on landlord

A young woman in Tehran has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and ordered to pay blood money (diya) after attacking her landlord with acid.

The incident occurred two years ago following a dispute regarding the tenant's unconventional visitors. The landlord reported that after his daughter questioned the presence of a stranger in the building, the tenant emerged from her apartment and threw an acidic liquid on him. The victim suffered burns to his abdomen and hands and required hospitalization. Following the legal proceedings at the Tehran Provincial Criminal Court, the judges handed down the 15-year sentence.
