Tehreek Muslim Shabban defends Hamid Ansari’s remarks on religious freedom

Maulana Mushtaq Malik, president of Tehreek Muslim Shabban, has voiced support for former Vice President Hamid Ansari’s recent remarks regarding rising communalism and religious freedom in India.

Speaking in Hyderabad, Malik stated that Ansari’s observations accurately reflect the current state of the country. He criticized the treatment of Muslims, citing instances such as an IPS officer being transferred for using religious greetings and difficulties faced by Muslims wearing traditional attire or reading the Quran in public spaces like trains.

Malik argued that India’s global reputation for diversity is being tarnished by hatred and that the government is failing to address the targeting and lynching of Muslims. Ansari’s comments had previously sparked political debate, drawing objections from the BJP while receiving support from various Muslim organizations.
