Tehuacán announces 2026 Mole de Caderas Festival

Tehuacán municipal president Alejandro Barroso Chávez and the Secretariat of Tourism Development have announced the 2026 “Festival del mole de caderas,” scheduled to take place from October 18 to 25. The event is expected to feature more than 120 restaurateurs and artisanal cooks preparing the traditional dish of the Mixteca region of Puebla.

The festival will include a tourist corridor for over 60 regional artisans, cultural activities, and concerts, including a performance by Banda MS. Organizers estimate an attendance of approximately 30,000 people and an economic impact exceeding 35 million pesos.

While standard prices for the dish will range between 580 and 650 pesos, a special event on October 22 will offer 1,000 servings for 120 pesos each. The dish, which is considered a living tradition and cultural heritage, is traditionally prepared using goat hip and spine, dried chilies, guaje, and cilantro.
