TEI advances domestic engine development for GÖKBEY and KIZILELMA
TUSAŞ Motor Sanayii (TEI) is advancing the development of domestic engines for Turkey's aerospace platforms. TEI General Manager Mahmut Faruk Akşit announced that certification testing is ongoing for the TEI-TS1400, the national engine intended for the GÖKBEY helicopter. The engine has reached flight maturity, and the company is currently undergoing the final bureaucratic and testing stages required for type certification.
Additionally, TEI is developing the TEI-TF6000 turbofan engine, designed for the KIZILELMA unmanned fighter jet. The first unit of the TF6000 is targeted for delivery to Baykar for testing purposes by late 2026 or early 2027. The TF6000 is a 6,000-pound dry thrust class engine, with future plans to develop an afterburning derivative known as the TF10000. While the engine is designed for potential use in manned and unmanned combat aircraft as well as civil and maritime platforms, the initial delivery to Baykar will focus on platform integration, verification, and testing rather than immediate serial production use.
