Teixeira Duarte drops over 4% as Lisbon Stock Exchange ends lower

The Lisbon Stock Exchange closed down 0.93% at 9,049.41 points. Teixeira Duarte led the losses, falling 4.38% to €0.4800. EDP slipped 3.54% to €13.36, while Galp Energia rose 3.55% to €20.00. European peers also retreated, with Germany's DAX down 0.19%, Spain's IBEX 35 down 1.65% and France's CAC 40 down 0.60%.

Analysts linked the broad weakness to a surge in oil prices after former U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would attack Iran following a recent strike on a U.S. base in Jordan. Markets are focused on the Federal Reserve’s monetary‑policy decision later in the day, with expectations that interest rates will stay unchanged but the Fed chair’s remarks could move prices, especially around inflation and growth. Upcoming earnings from Sonae, Jerónimo Martins and BCP were also highlighted, and luxury group Kering saw its shares jump 17% after strong Gucci sales.
