Bihar CMO stenographer booked for posting minor victim's photo

An FIR has been registered against Sagar Prasad, a stenographer in the Bihar Chief Minister's Office, for allegedly posting photos of a minor victim and her family on social media. The incident stems from a case in Jamui involving the alleged harassment of a minor, where the victim's identity was potentially compromised after images from a meeting with Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary were shared on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The post was subsequently removed, but the disclosure has sparked significant political controversy. Opposition leaders, including RJD's Tejashwi Yadav and MP Misa Bharti, have demanded legal action against the Chief Minister, citing violations of the POCSO Act, which prohibits revealing the identity of minor victims. While the stenographer faces charges under the POCSO Act and the Information Technology Act, opposition members have criticized the administration for not taking direct action against the Chief Minister's office.

In the Jamui case, the victim's parents have sought justice, stating that the Chief Minister assured them of security and education for the girl. Meanwhile, police have already taken action against approximately 120 other social media profiles for circulating videos that identified the minor.
