Tejashwi Yadav warns of statewide protest over student arrests in Bihar
Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav returned to Patna after an overseas trip and accused the Bihar state government of filing FIRs against thousands of students protesting the NEET paper‑leak movement. He said hundreds of those students have already been detained and placed in jail.
Yadav warned that if the cases are not withdrawn and the detained students are not released by July 27, the Mahagathbandhan will launch a large‑scale protest across the state. He also criticised the police for using force, including lathi‑charges that injured three students in Siwan.
His brother, former minister Tej Pratap Yadav, was arrested and sent to jail for supporting a Bihar bandh linked to the same paper‑leak issue. The state government has not issued an official response to these allegations.
