Tejashwi Yadav warns of statewide protest if Bihar detains student protesters

Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav addressed reporters at Patna airport on July 26, after the monsoon session of the Bihar legislature ended. He said thousands of students involved in protests over alleged paper‑leak incidents have been booked, with hundreds placed in custody and some injured by police action, including three wounded by gunfire in Siwan.

Yadav demanded that all cases against the detained students be withdrawn and the prisoners released by the upcoming deadline (July 27). He warned that if the government fails to act, the Mahagathbandhan coalition will launch a large‑scale movement across Bihar, accusing the state administration of filing false charges, misusing police force, and protecting corruption.
