Tekirdağ launches province‑wide earthquake simulation training
The Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality, together with its Disaster Affairs Department, will run an earthquake awareness program across the province in August. A mobile simulation truck will visit all 11 districts from 2 to 25 August, allowing residents to experience a controlled tremor and receive hands‑on instruction on pre‑quake precautions, the "Çök‑Kapan‑Tutun" (Drop‑Cover‑Hold) action, and post‑quake safety measures.
A commemorative event for the 1999 Marmara earthquake will be held on 17 August at Çorlu Cumhuriyet Park from 18:00 to 23:00, featuring stalls from the fire department and other public agencies that display rescue equipment such as seismic monitors, cutting machines and concrete breakers. The August programme also marks the anniversaries of the 1912 Mürefte earthquake and the 1999 Marmara quake, with sessions in districts outside Çorlu scheduled between 19:30 and 23:30.
