Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality holds first Children's Assembly meeting

The Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality has held the inaugural meeting of its Children's Assembly, an initiative designed to increase children's participation in urban management. Under the leadership of Mayor Dr. Candan Yüceer, the project operates under the slogan, “Children's Voice, the Future of the City.”

During the meeting, lawyers from the Tekirdağ Bar Association provided information regarding universal children's rights, the protection of those rights, and the process of writing petitions to ensure children can express their demands through democratic means.

Five commissions were established through a secret ballot to allow members to develop views and solutions for city life. The elected commission chairs are Muhammet Efe Uzuntaş (Environment, Climate, and Nature), Birge Tansı (Transportation and Safe City), Ece Naz Kara (Education, Culture, and Art), Defne Kesim (Digital Life, Technology, and Safe Internet), and Zübeyde Mercan (Sports, Health, and Healthy Living). Following the session, members visited the Metropolitan Municipality Council Hall to learn about local government operations.
