Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality launches food waste recycling facility

Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality has launched a new food waste recycling facility at the Unowned Animal Shelter and Natural Life Area in the Süleymanpaşa district. The facility is designed to convert food waste into nutritious animal feed, supporting zero-waste goals and reducing municipal expenditures.

In initial production trials, the facility processed 210 kilograms of food waste and 120 kilograms of bread to produce 160 kilograms of high-quality animal feed. The plant has a daily raw material processing capacity of 1,000 kilograms and operates with an average efficiency rate of 50%. Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Candan Yüceer stated that the project aims to provide sustainable and economic nutrition for stray animals while contributing to environmental preservation.
