Tekirdağ Municipal Cafeterias Serve Quarter‑Million Meals

The Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality launched a social‑municipal food program in 2024 under Mayor Dr. Candan Yüceer. It began with a mobile "Kent Lokantası" model and, after strong public demand, was made permanent with fixed locations in Kapaklı, Süleymanpaşa, Çorlu and Çerkezköy.

Since opening, the four cafeterias have provided roughly 250,000 meals to retirees, students, workers and low‑income residents at a price of 95 TL per plate. Menus are prepared according to healthy and balanced nutrition standards. A satisfaction survey of 937 participants showed a 98 % overall approval rating, with high marks for price, taste, hygiene and staff attitude.

Mayor Yüceer emphasized that the initiative is more than cheap food; it aims to foster solidarity and ensure that no citizen is denied access to nutritious meals because of economic hardship.
