Teknaf: Five youths rescued from human trafficking ring

The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has rescued five young men from a human trafficking ring in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. The victims, residents of Ramu upazila, were reportedly lured with promises of sightseeing before being kidnapped.

According to authorities, the group was taken in a CNG auto-rickshaw on September 11 and subsequently blindfolded and moved to an unknown location. The traffickers allegedly tortured the victims and demanded ransom from their families while planning to smuggle them to Indonesia and Malaysia via sea routes.

Following a written complaint from the victims' families, law enforcement used intelligence and technological tracking to locate the group. During a raid at the Sabrang Khonkarpara Ghat area early Sunday morning, the SRB rescued the five youths unharmed and arrested one suspect, identified as Md. Anas, also known as Munna. Other members of the ring fled the scene. The rescued individuals and the suspect have been handed over to the Teknaf police station.
