Tel Aviv protesters demand Netanyahu's resignation and October 7 inquiry

More than 100,000 people gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and demand an independent state commission of inquiry into the security failures of the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks.

The demonstration, held at Hostages Square and surrounding streets, took place just days before Israel’s general election scheduled for October 27. Organized by the October Council—a group comprising relatives of victims, survivors, and those affected by the attacks—the rally sought to hold the government accountable for national security lapses.

Prominent opposition figures attended the protest, including Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar party, as well as Yair Lapid, Naftali Bennett, Avigdor Liberman, and Yair Golan. Protesters and families of the deceased emphasized that a formal investigation is essential to establish political responsibility and prevent future tragedies.
