Telangana ACB seizes cash in NIMS disproportionate assets probe
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has expanded its investigation into a disproportionate assets case involving Dr. Nori Lakshmi Bhaskar, the Additional Medical Superintendent of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). During recent searches at the residences of five NIMS employees, officials recovered ₹7 lakh in cash from the home of Dhanraj, a barber at the hospital.
Investigators believe some employees were acting as ‘benamis’—individuals holding assets on behalf of another—for Lakshmi Bhaskar. Previous searches conducted in late September identified assets with a documented value of approximately ₹6.13 crore, though the market value of these properties is estimated to be around ₹100 crore. The seized assets include luxury cars, gold weighing 517.8 grams, multiple flats in gated communities, and various open plots.
The ACB is currently examining land documents, financial transactions, and money trails to determine the full extent of the alleged corruption. A case was registered against the 56-year-old official following allegations that he accumulated wealth beyond his known sources of income through corrupt practices.
