Telangana announces 13-day school holidays for Dussehra and Bathukamma

The Telangana state government has announced a 13-day holiday for schools and Anganwadi centers to celebrate the Dussehra and Bathukamma festivals. The vacation period began on October 10, 2026, and is scheduled to continue through October 22, 2026. Educational institutions are expected to reopen on October 23, 2026.

The holidays coincide with the Bathukamma festival, a significant cultural tradition in Telangana involving colorful floral decorations and traditional dances. The main Saddula Bathukamma celebrations are observed on October 19.

Across other parts of India, school schedules vary by state and district. While some regions are observing autumn or Dussehra vacations, there is no nationwide holiday mandate for October 12. In areas like Delhi-NCR, schools are expected to follow regular academic schedules unless specific local administrative or weather-related orders are issued.
