Telangana approves Gudemdoddi Reservoir expansion to 15 TMC

The Telangana government has approved a major expansion of the Gudemdoddi Balancing Reservoir in the Jogulamba Gadwal district. The project aims to increase storage capacity from 1.19 TMC to 15.00 TMC as part of a Pumped Storage Project (PSP) integrated with solar power generation.

To facilitate this, the state has sanctioned Rs 180 crore. This includes Rs 165 crore for the acquisition of 1,100 acres of additional land and Rs 15 crore for necessary topographical, geological, geotechnical, hydrological, and bathymetric studies. The reservoir is a component of the Jawahar Nettempadu Lift Irrigation Scheme (JNLIS).

In related irrigation developments, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has also directed authorities to invite tenders for phase-2 works of the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal Lift Irrigation Project, with officials aiming to complete phase-1 works by December 2027.
