Telangana BJP calls for Assembly siege over student fee arrears
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana has called for an ‘Assembly siege’ under the banner ‘Chalo Assembly’ following the denial of permission for a planned protest in Hyderabad. The party is demanding the immediate release of approximately Rs 15,000 crore in pending student fee reimbursement and scholarship dues, which they claim affects lakhs of students and prevents them from obtaining necessary educational certificates.
BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao has faced multiple detentions and house arrests while leading agitations against the Congress-led government of Revanth Reddy. Rao recently attempted to submit representations signed by eight lakh students to the state Secretariat but was detained. Despite these arrests, the BJP has vowed to intensify its protests, focusing on issues including student fees, farmer concerns, and land prohibition under Section 22-A, as the party prepares for upcoming local and legislative elections.
