India political tensions rise amid Goa election campaigning

Political tensions in India have escalated following protests by the INDIA bloc and sharp rhetoric between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. Union Ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Giriraj Singh criticized opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of orchestrating “street drama” and spreading lies regarding election integrity and constitutional institutions to mask poor policies.

In Goa, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has intensified campaigning for the 2027 Assembly elections as part of the Goy Rakhonn Yatra. Reddy used religious analogies to frame the political contest, describing the BJP as “Ravan” and the Congress as “Ram.” He urged voters to support the Congress “Hand” symbol, warning that smaller parties are being used by the BJP to divide the electorate.

Reddy further accused the BJP-led government of failing to curb the drug trade in Goa and allowing land to be compromised. In response, BJP Telangana President N. Ramchander Rao challenged the Congress to provide evidence of any genuine vote theft during recent electoral roll revisions, dismissing the opposition's claims as a smear campaign.
