Telangana Chief Minister Orders Comprehensive Drinking‑Water Plan for Hyderabad Core Urban Region
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revant Reddy directed state officials to draft a comprehensive drinking‑water supply plan for Hyderabad’s “Core Urban Region.” The plan must assess water needs for the next 50 years, interlink existing sources to ensure supply continuity during low‑rainfall periods linked to El Niño, and be completed within 18 months. Construction of sewage‑treatment plants (STPs) is to meet the same deadline, with monthly progress reports submitted to the chief minister. The initiative also calls for rules allowing reuse of domestic wastewater by industries.
The move aims to secure reliable potable water for Hyderabad’s central areas and surrounding zones identified within the city’s outer‑ring road.
