Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the rape and murder of a 21-year-old nurse at a private hospital in Tukkuguda, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The inquiry will investigate the circumstances of the crime, security arrangements at the victim’s residential quarters, potential negligence by hospital management, and compliance with safety norms for female employees.
Police have arrested 34-year-old MD Sanaullah, a bike mechanic from Bihar, in connection with the incident. The Chief Minister has directed senior police officials to expedite the collection of forensic and technical evidence to ensure a comprehensive chargesheet is filed without delay. He also called for the case to be tried in a fast-track court to ensure speedy justice.
The victim had been working as a nurse at Prime Care Hospital for approximately eight months. The state government has provided financial assistance and sanctioned an Indiramma house to the victim’s family, who are from the Khammam district.
