Telangana CM Revanth Reddy demands Bharat Ratna for Manmohan Singh

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has called on the Indian Union government to confer the Bharat Ratna, the nation’s highest civilian honour, upon former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The demand was made during an event in Hyderabad’s Financial District to unveil a statue of Singh at Wipro Circle, marking his birth anniversary.

Reddy urged the central government to move beyond partisan politics to honour the late leader. He also proposed the establishment of a ‘knowledge centre’ in Delhi to preserve Singh’s legacy. The Chief Minister highlighted Singh’s pivotal role in the 1991 economic liberalisation of India and his contribution to the formation of Telangana through the signing of the statehood legislation.

Reddy instructed Congress Members of Parliament from Telangana to raise the issue of the Bharat Ratna in both Houses of Parliament. He described Singh’s career, which included roles as an economic adviser, RBI governor, and Prime Minister, as an inspiration to future generations.
