Telangana CM orders probe into alleged land irregularities involving KCR

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has ordered a special inquiry into alleged land irregularities involving the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership, specifically targeting former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). During an Assembly session, Reddy accused the previous administration of looting approximately Rs 1 lakh crore worth of land and alleged that KCR’s family holds agricultural holdings far exceeding legal limits.

The Chief Minister specifically cited KCR’s farmhouse in Erravelli, alleging it occupies 388 acres of government-assigned land intended for Dalit families. Reddy stated the government intends to distribute this land to approximately 800 Dalit beneficiaries. He also detailed alleged excess holdings by other family members, including KTR and Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

To address broader property disputes, the government is implementing a policy framework regarding the Section 22A prohibited properties list. Reddy clarified that while 1.01 crore acres are permanently restricted (including forest and water bodies), the contested private land under Section 22A is between 3.05 and 3.73 lakh acres. A high-level committee has been formed to resolve ownership issues, and new guidelines for authorized layouts and urban land regularization are expected within a week.

The Assembly session was marked by significant tension, resulting in the suspension of over 20 BRS MLAs following disruptions and protests against the government’s land-related debates.
