Telangana CM Revanth Reddy promotes tourism while facing political criticism
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has outlined ambitious plans to elevate the state’s cultural, historical, and spiritual heritage on the global tourism map. Under the Telangana Tourism Policy 2025-30, the government aims to foster investment in sectors such as eco-tourism, medical tourism, adventure tourism, and temple tourism. Key sites identified for development include Ramappa, Warangal, Yadadri, Bhadrachalam, Alampur, and Medaram, alongside historical structures in Hyderabad. The initiative seeks to create employment opportunities for local youth and encourage private investment.
Simultaneously, the Chief Minister has faced political backlash following comments regarding religious and regional identities. Reddy drew criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after questioning why political leaders primarily use the slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’ rather than ‘Har Har Mahadev’. He characterized the distinction between North and South Indian political cultures through these religious lenses, leading the BJP to accuse him of attempting to divide Hindu society for political gain.
