Telangana CM seeks central aid for Tummiddihatti Barrage and irrigation projects

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met with Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil in Delhi to seek critical approvals for several state irrigation projects. A primary focus of the discussion was the construction of the Tummiddihatti Barrage. The Chief Minister requested the Center's assistance in facilitating an agreement with the Maharashtra government to move forward with the project.

Reddy proposed a full reservoir level of 152 meters for the Tummiddihatti Barrage, noting that this height would allow water to be transported to the Yellampalli reservoir via gravity, thereby reducing electricity consumption and overall water transport costs.

Additionally, the Chief Minister urged the expedited issuance of environmental clearances for several key schemes, including the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, the Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme, the Sitaram Sagar Multipurpose Project, and the Gauravelli reservoir. He noted that delays in these clearances are leading to increased construction costs. He also requested the Central Water Commission to expedite pending approvals for the Sammakka Sagar project.
