Telangana Congress committee reviews disciplinary action against Minister Konda Surekha
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) disciplinary committee has deferred a decision regarding potential action against Forest Minister Konda Surekha and senior leader G. Chinna Reddy following allegations of “anti-party” and “anti-Chief Minister” remarks.
The controversy stems from public statements made by Konda Sushmitha, the daughter of Minister Konda Surekha, who criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his family. While Surekha argued that her daughter’s comments were made in an individual capacity due to personal frustration and should not hold her politically accountable, the committee expressed concern over her silence regarding the remarks. TPCC General Secretary Gajjela Kantham accused Surekha’s family of undermining party leadership and working with opposition figures.
The committee, led by MP Mallu Ravi, reviewed video evidence of Sushmitha’s comments and Chinna Reddy’s remarks against the party and MLA Tudi Megha Reddy. The committee noted that Sushmitha “crossed the limits” and indicated that Surekha may be at fault for failing to condemn the remarks despite her cabinet position. Further deliberations are expected after the committee seeks additional opinions.
