Telangana Deputy CM announces health card fast-track and condemns discrimination

During the Telangana Assembly’s monsoon session, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka addressed several key issues regarding employee welfare and social justice.

Regarding healthcare, the Deputy CM announced that the government is fast-tracking the issuance of digital health cards for employees under the Employees Health Scheme (EHS). A dedicated trust has been established to manage the scheme, with a corpus fund of ₹264 crore deposited by the Finance Department. To ensure effective implementation, representatives from employee and teachers’ associations have been included in the trust to monitor progress.

On the issue of social equality, Vikramarka condemned a recent incident in Erravalli involving the ‘purification’ of roads used by Dalits during a protest. He stated that such discriminatory actions hurt the self-respect of Telangana society and emphasized the importance of the egalitarian values established by reformers like B.R. Ambedkar, Periyar, and Jyotiba Phule.
